Armada Fleet Builders (UPDATED)

It's 400 points exactly. Honest.

Building fleets without a builder app is HOPELESS.

Here are the THREE builders I know of (and 1 more I've never tried) that are actually maintained as of Armada 1.5

ARMADA WARLORDS

Fleet building made easy

I maintain this builder. It's visual and easy to use, and also has some good database functions, list filtration, and the ability to look at other (public) lists. There is also a compact version of the build wo images that's perfect for mobile.

Pros:
- 100% free
- visual, easy to use
- excellent online saves
- good text export
- easy to share links to fleets
- ALWAYS up to date with new content

Cons:
- has a few quirks, like you can't swap ship models and it tends to reorder your ships when you edit/clone
- missing some code to enforce stuff like double-slot upgrades, so you have to keep track of that manually
- too many adds; fucking hate that!

RYAN KINGSTON'S FLEET BUILDER

Fleet building v2.0

I love the Kingston builder. Compared to Warlords, for example, it's much more compact, without any loss of functionality.

Pros:
- very easy to use
- super-efficient and compact layout
- online saves
- quick to update

Cons:
- no filtering options for fleets, except by faction, so once you have more than 20 fleets that's a problem
- small donation required to save fleets

ADROID FLEETS DESIGNER

Touching your fleet never felt this good...

Pros:
- easy to use Android app
- quick to update
- collection support, including tournament alt art and other loot

Cons:
- donation required to save fleets in cloud
- it's an Android app

FLAGSHIP

I don't know anything about this one. Never tried it.

BATTLESCRIBE NO LONGER MAINTAINED

These are not the army lists you're looking for.

Battlescribe is an cross-platform (PC, Mac, iPhone, Android) builder app. It's made to handle ANY kind of listbuilding, not just Armada. So after installing you (very easy) import the Armada dataset and voila! I don't use it a whole lot, but I have it installed, and I can definitely reccoment

Pros:
- simple interface, easy to use
- very fast
- quick to update
- cross-platform

Cons:
- not very visual

FAB'S FLEET BUILDER NO LONGER MAINTAINED

Very visual and easy to use

This was the first builder I came into contact with, and I still use it a LOT. It is very visual and easy to use, perfect for both pros and beginners.

You can swap ships without removing all the upgrades - depending on what upgrades you've loaded on a ship, the swap list will include only legal changes. Very handy feature.

Integrated collection support helps make sure you can actually build the fleets you design. There is even a function to tell you what expansions you need for any given build.

The only downside is that it has no online save function - to save a fleet you have to either save it as a file on your computer, or copy down the permalink/QR-code. Not insurmountable, but still meh.

Pros:
- visual, easy to use
- very good export support (text, FFG standard fleet form, and graphic representation)
- quick to update
- collection support
- random fleets generator (for fun and lolz)

Cons:
- no online save function

  1. If I had a bonus point for every time I saw a fleet that had been manually calculated incorrectly, I could finally buy all those XI7s I've had my eye on :D

But seriously, these fleet builders are not just time savers, the flexibility and speed in changing and moving things around will result in better quality outcomes. Use them.

  2. Since Google+ got axed I can't find Android Fleet Designer. Any idea if it's still out there? Somewhere?
